4392065 "Whirlpool" Dryer Belt Maintenance Kit
Our dryer belt had broken and I looked in the paperwork and found that the 4392065 kit was the proper part to replace my belt, tensioner and rollers. The seller I chose had a price that was 1/3 less expensive than some of the others and was supposed to be the proper part for our dryer (4392065).
I have experience replacing appliance parts, so I took our dryer apart, retrieved the broken belt, cleaned the cabinet, and replaced the rollers, belt and the tensioner. I noticed that the belt looked a little short and that the tensioner fit a little too close to the motor pulley, however, I thought it would work okay. I started the dryer with no clothes and everything seemed allright, and with a light load, was also okay. When we tried to dry a heavier load the tensioner roller contacted the motor pulley and it made a loud, vibrating oscillating noise. Also, the rollers would take a set like an old nylon tire and would thump until they rounded out. We had to use the dryer...
Saved me a dryer
When the dryer belt broke it was easy enough to replace it. When the new belt broke, I ordered this maintenance kit as a last ditch effort to see if I could save the dryer. I replaced all the roller things and the pulley along with the belt and now it works great. Its been a couple of months now and so far so good. I would recommend this maintenance kit, all the parts seemed to be of good quality and fit my Kenmore dryer perfectly.
Faulty parts
The belt has been fine, but the idler pulley and rollers are generic and was not made to spec. The part was not the right size and rubbed against the motor pulley. I had to order a genuine idler pulley, which worked great. The rollers are the right size but the material is harder than OEM parts, and will cause hard thumping sound at every start. A genuine part number on the kit, but NOT genuine parts or parts that meet specs. Do NOT order this kit and make sure to get OEM parts.
